I still remember when I first learned this trick. I think it was from an Ali Abdaal video on YouTube about increasing typing speed. Suffice it to say, my mind was blown, and this single technique has made typing so much more pleasant.

When typing, we often make mistakes, like:

Once upon a time tjhere w

Then, I’ll see people press and hold the Backspace button to correct the spelling error in tjhere. Or worse, they’ll repeatedly press Backspace to delete each character individually until they get back to tjhere and correct it.

Instead, you can simply press Ctrl + Backspace twice to delete tjhere w in one go, correct your mistake, and move on. It’s a much faster and more efficient way to handle typing errors.

This works in almost every single application. VS Code, Google Chrome, Microsoft Word. Every website has this integrated. The only place I’ve seen this not work is in some of the popup tooling windows in Visual Studio.

Note: For those Mac users out there, you can use Option + Backspace for the desired effect.
